Requirements
- The scholarship is open to international students.
- Applicants must demonstrate exceptional academic excellence, leadership potential, and a dedication to making a positive impact on their disciplines and communities.
- Candidates should not have completed their secondary education at a New Zealand school.
- Applicants who have completed the Foundation Studies Programme or English for Academic Purposes (EAP) are not eligible.
- Students enrolled at one of Victoria University of Wellington’s international partner universities as Twinning or Study Abroad students are not eligible.
- Candidates enrolled in the same degree program at Victoria University of Wellington in their second year of study are not eligible.
Benefits
- The Victoria Tongarewa Scholarship is partially funded and will help cover tuition costs for one academic year.
- For undergraduate and postgraduate students: 10 scholarships are available with a value of NZ $10,000.
- For postgraduate students: 9 scholarships are available with a value of NZ $5,000.
- Recipients of the scholarship who submit a housing application to the Accommodation Service by the deadline will be guaranteed an offer of a spot in the Halls of Residence.

- For Trimester 2 of a Tongarewa Scholarship 2023: June 1 (Apply online).
