Ontario Trillium Scholarships (OTS) CANADA 2023

Introduction:

The Ontario Trillium Scholarships (OTS) program was established in November 2010 to support outstanding doctoral students from around the world in pursuing their studies in Ontario. The program provides a prestigious scholarship of $40,000 per year, renewable for a maximum of four years. Ontario universities are responsible for selecting and awarding the OTS to international PhD students based on merit and program criteria.

Requirements: To be eligible for the Ontario Trillium Scholarships (OTS), the nominated student must meet the following criteria:

International student: The student must be an international student with a first-class average (at least an A- in the last two years of full-time study).
Acceptance as a full-time PhD student: The student must be accepted as a full-time PhD student at York University in the academic year specified by the nominating department’s quota.
Not studying at an Ontario postsecondary institution: The student should not be currently studying at an Ontario postsecondary institution at the undergraduate or graduate level.
Not intending to enroll in a qualifying or make-up year: The student must not be planning to enroll in a qualifying or make-up year.
No other scholarships or fellowships: The student should not be holding another scholarship or fellowship from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) such as OGS or QEII-GSST, or from the Tri-Council (SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, Vanier).
No funding from other international sources: The student should not be receiving funding from other international sources that cannot be held concurrently with the Trillium Award (details can be obtained from the Scholarship and Awards Coordinator).
