Korea University International Students Scholarships

Introduction

Korea University offers the Future Global KU Scholarship, a full scholarship program for international students. The scholarship application is open to interested students globally. This post provides an overview of the scholarship details, eligibility criteria, and application process.

Scholarship Periods

The academic year at Korea University runs from March to December, divided into two terms. International students have the option to choose from three study periods:

1. Full academic year: March to December / September to June
2. Spring semester: March to June
3. Fall semester: September to December

Scholarship Details

• Scholarship Sponsor(s): Korea University
• Scholarship Type: Full scholarship
• Scholarship Level: Undergraduate or Postgraduate
• Slots: Approximately 2500 scholarship slots for a full session
• Scholarship Worth: KRW 400,000 per month for the first semester (4 months)
• Country/Candidate Eligibility: Available for international students
• Selection Criteria: Candidates with an offer of admission for SEP or VSP at Korea University

Merit Scholarship

In addition to the Future Global KU Scholarship, there is a Merit Scholarship available for students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance during their first semester at Korea University. Students who extend their duration of studies to two semesters may also be eligible to apply for the Merit Scholarship during the extension approval stage.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

• Be admitted to a recognized university outside of Korea, in a nation recognized by the Korean government, as of December 1, 2004.
• Have completed or be about to complete at least one year of study at their home universities at the time of applying.
• Have a weighted average of not less than 75% at their home university.
• Have been admitted successfully for SEP or VSP at Korea University.
• Be familiar with either English or Korean.

Application Process

All application documents must be submitted in English. If any documents are in a language other than English, it is advised to attach English translations.

Important notes:

• Documents submitted with the application will not be returned to the candidate.
• Academic references must be sent directly to the Office of International Affairs from educators.
